Want to peek behind the curtain at Managers Are Made? I'm the founder, and I'm here to help you be as successful as possible as a manager. My name is Meghan Jennings. I have designed and facilitated training in a wide variety of contexts, from start-up to nonprofit to government to multinational corporations.
In every situation, I've seen really smart people struggling to adapt to the challenges of managing a team. Management skills aren’t that complicated, but there is a lot of bad advice out there. It's challenging to cut through all the fluff and clichés to find what really works. That’s what I’m here for, to sort through the management advice haystack to find the most helpful needles, and provide them in the most focused, efficient, accessible way possible. I use my background in psychology and business to figure out what really works and what’s just generic you-know-what.
A little about me...When I’m not obsessively thinking about management, I read voraciously and always have at least one e-reader on my person at all times, just in case. I love fiction and have also recently developed an interest in nonfiction focused on cognition and brain research, especially related to building habits. I enjoy running, yoga and traveling to big cities to check out the local architecture and art museums with my favorite person, my husband Craig. I grew up in Texas, but you wouldn’t know that from hearing me speak – I lost my accent (and the “y’all”) years ago. I’ve lived in Washington, D.C., for over 15 years and love being surrounded by all these brainy wonks doing such interesting things. I believe strongly that red pandas are the best pandas and aspire to win Aunt of the Year someday.
As for the boring business-y stuff,I have a BBA in management/business honors, an MA in psychology with a focus on personality/social psychology, and a certificate in organizational development. My work experience includes management consulting, higher education, international development, and the federal government.
